The Gods of Innkeep
Greetings! Welcome back to the Weary Pilgrim stranger. Draw up a chair and let me pour you an ale. It’s time for a little February update.

Innkeep is more than just a job simulator, or a management game. It’s also a narrative adventure set in a fantasy world. Although for the most part you stay within the walls of the Weary Pilgrim, the people and problems of that world come to you. That means it’s really important that we make that world an interesting and believable place for you to come to understand and care about. To this end, the world of Innkeep has its own history, politics, geography, myths and legends. That includes its own gods!
In fact, the Divine Cirrhulian Empire, where Innkeep is set, has six official gods (and an outcast seventh god). Each of these gods is the patron of one of the six provinces of the empire.
We got a chance to show off some details about these gods recently. For a week starting at the end of January, Innkeep participated in the Myths and Legends Festival on steam. For each day of this event, we shared some art for a statue of one of the gods from the world of Innkeep, along with some lore about them.
Now that the event is over I thought it would be nice to gather them all together in one post for people to check out!

Buccoli, the God of fertility and friendship, brought the gifts of the plow, and the scythe, and taught the Cirrans (humans) the ways of farming, and brewing. He is the patron god of the province of Buccolia.

Avenos, the God of trade, brought the gifts of coinage and scales, and taught the Cirrans the ways of commerce, and sailing. He is the patron god of the province of Avenor.

Orhue, the Goddess of prudence, brought the gifts of parchment and ink, and taught the Cirrans the ways of writing, and of law. She is the patron goddess of the province of Orhuste.

Rhyn, the Goddess of valor, brought the gifts of the bow and the spear, and taught the Cirrans the ways of hunting, and war. She is the patron goddess of the province of Rhynd.

Duros, the God of diligence, brought the gifts of the hammer and the anvil, and taught the Cirrans the ways of smithing, and crafting. Blacksmiths often have a little shrine to Duros in the corner of their workshops. He is the patron god of the province of Duron.

Wyre, the Goddess of compassion, brought the gifts of the mortar and pestle, and the lyre, and taught the Cirrans the ways of healing, and music. She is the patron goddess of the province of Wyrenach.

Lastly, we have Theonoa, the Goddess of truth. She bore no gifts (as the say in Cirrhul, “truth brings no gifts”), but taught the Cirrans the ways of rhetoric, logic, and investigation.
But, as you can see, her statue has been destroyed. Only the feet remain.
In fact, at the time of the game, Theonoa is no longer recognized as a god of Cirrhul, having been cast out of the pantheon hundreds of years ago for her role in destroying the old Cirrhulian republic. But that is a tale for another time!

I hope you enjoyed this little sneak peek at the lore of Innkeep. I’ll be back in March to share some more juicy details about the game and its development with you!
Safe travels.
